Bringing a new product to market? How do you get the Know Like Trust element?

Finding the words..

One of the things I am regularly asked to do  is help people find the words to communicate their idea, service, or product.

A big issue for people launching a new business is, how do you present something to people that haven’t yet come to Know, Like and Trust you? Finding the language to share with our target market is not an easy task and far too many of us get this wrong. It’s all very well being all over social media, but if people don’t get what we do, we are wasting our time.

I always recommend that we use our customer’s language, but if you don’t have any customers yet, what do you do?

I’ve been working with James Fraser of Vibro-acoustics on this very issue. He has a really great product, but it  is unknown in the UK.  So how could we communicate the benefits of his vibro-acoustic bed to people?

We  identified that he needed people to  test the product and give testimonials so that’s what we did.

I tried  the  bed to see if it could help with a long standing shoulder injury and James filmed my progress over the 12 sessions.

James then edited that down to  this 3 minute video, ensuring that all the main points that were important to me were included, such as – I get to keep my clothes on!

This has now been  widely shared and it brought in interest straight away.

As consumers we trust recommendations by people that we already know, like and trust and the realness of vlogs and  testimonial videos, shared via social media, can work brilliantly.

James used iMovie to edit this film, but movie maker is also free and relatively simple.
