The great stuff I learnt from joining #pitchtoRich

I’ve spent the last few days on a mad mission in the #pitchtorich competition, which, in case you missed it, was to win a chance to pitch to Richard Branson. The winner in each of 3 categories gets a cash injection plus lots of other support. Nice eh!
I didn’t make the top 50, but I’m so glad I did it and this is what I learnt…

The unsustainability of unreliable.

Last week I was waiting for a piece of work from someone and it didn’t come. After 2 reminders I got an email saying they had to prioritise something that they considered more important! It got me thinking about how much time I have wasted working with unreliable suppliers.

Bringing a new product to market? How do you get the Know Like Trust element?

A big issue for people launching a new business is, how do you present something to people that haven’t yet come to Know, Like and Trust you? Finding the language to share with our target market is not an easy task and far too many of us get this wrong. It’s all very well being all over social media, but if people don’t get what we do, we are wasting our time.

‘Women in business’ needs to be on the agenda in Lancashire and nationally. Cumbria has invested a small part of their budget into women in business and has seen significant economic growth as a result. Why would we not want to follow suit?

Can’t Sell? Won’t Sell? Seeing a connection between cooking and selling.

As I was coming towards the end of writing my book The Heart of Sales I got a connection for myself between cooking and sales!

I don’t much like cooking and so have told myself that I can’t cook. But not cooking is not sustainable for a healthy life, in the same way that not selling means your business or organisation isn’t sustainable.
