A week of not being Wonder Woman

On Saturday me and my wee girlie had a fun night out which consisted of pasta and Wonder Woman.

It was good to see a film about a female superhero, especially as it was also directed by a woman, Patty Jenkins (in 2016 only 7% of the top films were directed by women).

But this post is not about that, it’s about another week of me not being Wonder Woman, or Super Woman, or even Bat Girl.

A big part of my work is working with women to support them to run a successful, sustainable business with a healthy work life balance. I meet and work with so many women who feel they have to be superwoman 24/7. They work themselves so hard, put so much pressure on themselves to be prefect, to be something that they never can be and end up ill, frustrated and unhappy.

Understanding our drivers, and tuning in with ourselves regularly is crucial for our healthy development.

But then this last 2 weeks I felt myself struggling and tired. I was concerned that I wasn’t being productive enough. Then I stepped back and noticed that here we are in the middle of A levels, I take care of my mum who is struggling with her health, we have had 7 weeks of  very intense electioneering and 2 terror attacks.  It’s a time of major change and it’s hard. And there  was me wondering why I hadn’t had the focus to write a blog for a month!

For all the work I do and teach on balance and tuning in to our bodies, I’ve learnt once again that it’s just all too easy to forget to take care of ourselves, to focus on what hasn’t been done rather than notice our achievements.  I don’t know about you, but feeling bad about myself is not a motivator, it’s downward spiral.

So yesterday I took time to reflect, I noticed all I am juggling and that I have actually managed to keep my business on track. And I reminded myself that I am Good Enough.

And You Are Good Enough Too.

And good enough is good enough. Hey and look what happened as soon as I started being nice to myself again!

Over to you, are you struggling to find your mojo and your focus right now? What are your top tips for self care?
