Hats off to Forever – Social media and the direct sales industry

Over the last 6 years I have worked with a number of different direct selling teams and individuals teaching social media and social selling.

Social media is of course a great way for agents to find, connect with and stay in touch with their customers. But there have always been problems with people being unclear as to what they can post, usually because of the head office’s anxieties on brand damage.

Of course the best way to ensure that everyone is singing from the same hymn sheet is to ensure that everyone is trained. And certainly some direct sales companies have been better at that than others.
One team leader hired me to do a series of evening  sessions with her geographically spread team and that was a lot of fun, but mostly I get asked to work with individuals who are feeling very lost and frustrated as the guidelines are often more restrictive than empowering.

I joined Forever just over a year ago to get my own stash of drinking gel, as aloe is great for boosting the immune system,  and to be honest I haven’t taken a fat lot of notice of the training and marketing since. But then I heard that they were getting their act together regarding social media and my ears pricked up.  They have really gone for it by creating their own social media management platform with training, analytics, scheduling and prepared content.

But then at the weekend this piece of paper arrived and I was impressed

In all the social media training I run, I encourage people to get a simple planner and start thinking in terms of campaigns. This just makes life so much easier as it brings it all together and stops the ‘what shall I post today’ syndrome.

Forever has created a 10 week count down to Christmas planner for their agents, giving them ideas and a structure, thus enabling a consistent message around the world. Both simple and brilliant. So well done Forever.

Is this something you could create with and for your teams?
